Overview

The Department of Pharmacology, established in 2005, has grown into a dynamic hub for education and healthcare. It provides innovative, advanced teaching for MBBS, MD Pharmacology, Nursing, and Allied Health students, utilizing state of the art lecture halls and demonstration rooms. Highly qualified faculty, trained in cutting edge pharmacological advancements, deliver exceptional guidance. The department houses the Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) Monitoring Centre under PvPI (started in 2016) and the Medical Device Adverse Event Monitoring Centre (launched in 2025), as well as lead the prescription audits and medication error monitoring at SGMC. The department features advanced facilities, including fully equipped Experimental Pharmacology, Clinical Pharmacology, Research and Pharmacy labs, as well as a Pharmacology Museum. The Department of Pharmacology maintains a beautifully curated herbal garden with over 70 species of medicinal plants, functioning as an educational resource, providing students with hands on insights into phytopharmacology. The Animal House Facility is meticulously designed to support high level postgraduate medical education and preclinical research.
