Annual HICC Meeting held on 28 January 2021

The Department of Infection Control conducted the annual HICC meeting on 28.01.2021 at 2pm over Zoom platform. The introductory remarks were given by Dr. Ashish Jitendranath. Overview of the current composition of the HICC team was detailed with introduction of new members. 

Annual HICC report was presented by Sr.Madanapriya, ICN, highlighting the various infection control measures that were adopted in the hospital with respect to the Covid- 19 pandemic. Dr. Benny gave his comments on the epidemiological trends of Covid-19 in the state and also outlined the covid 19 vaccination campaign in SGMC. Dr.Smitha, as the nodal officer for COVID 19, gave an insight into the roles played by the various departments and personnel for COVID management in our hospital. Madam also briefed on the current guidelines for testing, diagnosis, management and discharge criteria for covid-19.

The antibiotics resistance rates in SGMC in 2020 was presented by Dr. Ivy Viswamohanan and this was followed up with a comments on the associated Antibiotic policy by Dr. Ashish. Reports of the various audits conducted in the hospital were presented by Sr. Reshma, ICN. Hand hygiene audit was discussed in detail, with Dr. Lalitha Kailas, Dr. Mahadevan, Dr. Rajesh and Dr. Benny giving their valuable suggestions on improving the compliance of healthcare workers to hand hygiene protocols.
