World Diabetes Day is celebrated every year on 14th November to create greater awareness about diabetes.
The theme this year is focused on the role of nurses in supporting people living with diabetes. This chronic disease has a global footprint with India deemed to be the world’s diabetic capital.
Diabetes arises out of poorly controlled blood sugar levels and can lead to blindness, amputations, heart disease and kidney failure in the long run. Some ways to prevent type 2 diabetes include:
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Cut down on sugars
