Born on 23rd July 1944, Shri Ambalathil Meethal Gopalan, affectionately known as Gokulam Gopalan, is an iconic philanthropist and businessman who dares to spread his wings and venture out into newer, unexplored sectors. Hailing from Vadagara, Kozhikode, he planted the foundling seeds of the Gokulam Group of Companies at the tender age of 24 years, in Chennai.

His strong business acumen and a vision crowded with innovative ideas, excellent strategies and a humane approach resulted in many more successful ventures in diverse fields. Today, the Sree Gokulam Group of Companies is involved in healthcare, education, hospitality, finance, retail, realty, manufacturing, foods & beverages, cinema and media entertainment. Always in the pursuit of new challenges, Shri Gokulam Gopalan provides meaningful employment to over 11,000 people, both in India and abroad. 

His dream to provide excellent medical education, quality healthcare at affordable rates and meaningful medical research also saw the establishment of the Sree Gokulam Medical College and Research Foundation. Thousands of medical, paramedical and nursing students have graduated from the haloed corridors of this prestigious institution and are shining their light in different parts of the country and the world. 

He is a visionary and a true realist who believes in executing his vision through actions. A firm believer that ‘Charity begins at home but should not end there’, Shri Gokulam Gopalan is a philanthropist who totally believes in making a living with what we get and making a life by what we give. He feels the pain of others and is involved in many charitable activities in his endeavour to help others and give back to the community.  In recognition of his immense contributions to business growth and humanity in general, he has also been bestowed with several prestigious awards and felicitations. 

Today, on the auspicious occasion of our Chairman, Shri Gokulam Gopalan’s 76th birthday, the entire fraternity at Sree Gokulam Medical College and Research Foundation joins hands together to felicitate our beloved Chairman.
