Overview

Introduction 

Pathology involves the study of the essential nature of diseases, especially the structural and functional changes produced by them in the body. It delineates the changes occurring within the body during illness, and the effects of the diseases on the organs and organ systems. This knowledge forms the basis for clinical diagnosis. 

About the Department 

The Department of Pathology was established in the year 2005 and is brought to its current glory under the guidance of eminent faculty members who have worked in the department since its inception. The department has a well-equipped reporting room, state of the art museum, demonstration halls fitted with required audio-visual aids, histopathology laboratory, clinical pathology laboratory and research laboratory, seminar room and departmental library. 

The faculty are actively involved in teaching postgraduates in Pathology as well as undergraduates in medicine, nursing and other allied health disciplines. The department is also involved in various training, diagnostic and research activities. 

The faculties have pursued research activities and have published books and papers in various state, national and international journals. Several CMEs, workshops and guest lectures have been conducted over the years. 

Services Offered 

In Pathology, we work as a team with all the other department faculty to better the outcome in diagnosis and patient care. 

  • Cytology ( Plain FNAC, ( CT Guided, USG Guided FNAC, PAP Smear, Body Fluid Cytology, Squash And Imprint Cytology 
  • Histopathology – Including Immunohistochemistry and special stains 
  • Haematology 

                   Routine Tests Like CBC, ESR, Blood Grouping 

                   Special Tests Like Retic Count, Sickling Test, Hb Electrophoresis 

                   Bone Marrow Aspiration And Trephine Biopsy 

  • Frozen Section.

The Hospital Laboratory and Blood Bank function round the clock and cater to both inpatients and outpatients visiting the hospital.
